107 - Tearing open some packaging and tearing the...
I’ve just done it with one of those bloody single pack hotel tea bags, the place is covered in tea, which just stains everywhere when you decide to wipe it up with a damp cloth. It’s a common problem with envelopes too, tearing open your mail and straight through your important letter or that cheque from Aunty Beryl for your birthday.

106 - Insects being attracted to lights
It doesn’t really seem like something that should be irritating but factor in that at night people like to see and people generally don’t like flying insects. So if you’re in any open area with a light on the fact that all of the insects in the nearby area will come to say hello can be a little annoying. Equally annoying is the fact that they are attracted to car headlights...

105 - People speeding past through road works
I’m sure they have similar elsewhere but in the UK during roadworks they now put up average speed cameras so you can’t go wizzing through and just slow down at the cameras but have to maintain a slower speed throughout. Yet everytime there’s always a few people speeding past you well over the speed limit and you can’t help but wonder why. Do they know something you...

104 - Tripping over nothing
If you don’t actually fall flat on your face it’s not too bad, even if it’s that kind where you just don’t lift your feet properly and squeek your shoe, or the type when you don’t realise there is or isn’t another step on the stairway. However if you fall flat on your face and everyone points and laughs you have my sympathy, even if at the time I join in the...

103 - The way stuff doesn't fit in your shopping...
You’re at the supermarket checkout having previously had everything in your trolley and now it’s bagged it’s like some life size Tetris operation trying to squeeze all your stuff into the same space it all previously occupied. More often than not you give in and just carry a bag or two and take to pushing the trolley one handed.

102 - Missing that overtaking spot
We all know how frustrating it is sitting behind a lorry or someone really slow on a single lane road. You just keep edging out in the hope of overtaking them and you think, ah! I know there’s a great straight bit up ahead. You finally get there after what seems an age only to have a great big convoy of traffic coming the other direction and before you know it the overtaking opportunity has...

101 - Shaving cuts
In any normal pursuit in life if someone suggested scraping a very sharp blade across your skin you’d tell them to get lost. But whilst that is what shaving is you don’t really think of it like that.  I’m sure there are some of you who will read this and have spent decades shaving and some who have only just started, but it seems that no matter how much you do there’s...

100 - Starting something that will take 3 years
Well there are now 100 things that are irritating listed on here, 99 if you don’t count this one.  It’s 1/10th of the way to the 1000 and it’s kind of irritating to think that even if I add one thing everyday as I tried to do at the start but haven’t managed all the time, that this will still take about 3 years! Wow. So today’s irritation is me not realising how big...

99 - The World Cup 2010
People have been looking forward to this for a long time, building up hopes and hype for the show piece of the biggest sport of the planet and it’s been a bit rubbish. Not in terms of the venue, South Africa have been great hosts, but the football has been pretty bad. The best players Messi, Rooney, Kaka, Ronaldo, Torres all failed to their best. France, Italy, England, Brazil all teams...

98 - Fixing something but not knowing how you did...
I’ve spent a long time working with computers and you end with so many mind boggling and inexplicable problems. Yet sometimes as if by magic problems get fixed, you changed something but you’re not sure what and suddenly it’s working, colleagues are asking “How did you do that?” and you have absolutely no idea. For the time being you’re just glad it’s...

97 - Friends flashback episodes
Friends was an absolutely massive TV series, you can find it on at least once a day on some TV channel in the UK. There are some brilliant stories and it’s always good to pass half an hour. Yet the episodes that consist of clips from previous episodes just smack of laziness and air time filler. I’d much rather they didn’t bother and just did one less episode a series, it always...

96 - Snooty shop assistants
Often when I go shopping I don’t dress like I’m going for dinner with the Queen. This doesn’t mean that the shop assistant can treat me like I’m a moron or like I’m going to steal everything in the shop. I don’t see why they’re so uppity, they work a shop, it’s hardly the pinnacle of the career ladder. If you don’t know what I mean should you...

95 - Not having internet access
You come to take it as a given just being able to casually browse all the time but you really don’t realise how much you use the internet until you can’t get online. There’s a great South park episode about it.  Yes there maybe a great number of wifi hotspots and mobile internet access but there’s only so long you can work in MacDonalds until the kids and their happy meal...
